The Chinook District of the Washington State Federation of Garden Clubs
invites YOU to join a garden club today!
Share your joy of gardening, floral design and service to others as a member of one of Chinook’s twelve garden clubs. The Chinook District of the Washington State Federation of Garden Clubs belongs to the Pacific Region of National Garden Clubs, Inc., the largest volunteer gardening organization in the world.
Most garden clubs meet monthly for exciting garden and floral design programs, and garden and nursery tours.
The Chinook District of Garden Clubs hosts four general meetings a year featuring a flower show, horticulture program, lunch, and design program. Guests are ALWAYS welcome. Please “Contact Us” if you would like to attend. You’ll quickly learn why so many of us enjoy belonging to this wonderful organization.
Our 2011-2013 District Director shares her theme and message:
“Creating Friendships through Garden Club”
When I joined garden club, I wanted to make new friends that liked flowers and enjoyed touring gardens. Since then I have learned how much more garden club has to offer its members. We’ve learned how to create beautiful designs and judge flower shows, create inspirational gardens, and grow many interesting plants. Garden club is a place to explore, grow, be inspired, and help other people. And more than anything else, it’s about the friendships we gain that are so precious. I have gained much more than I have given. ~ Mary
Mary’s Flowers - Alliums
The genus Alliums includes many garden perennial plants that form bulbs or bulb-like rhizomes. The flowers form dense balls of color at the top of strong stems, making an excellent display in the garden. Alliums flowers range from purple, burgundy, lilac, silver, amethyst, pink, blue to white. The flower heads are good for drying and wonderful when used in floral design.
Mary shares this garden poem with you:
Into your garden you can walk
And with each plant and flower talk;
View all their glories, from each one
Raise some rare meditation
~ John Rea
